Ford has revealed intentions to slash approximately 800 jobs across the UK over the next three years as part of measures to pare down costs. This announcement is a segment of a broader restructuring scheme that will result in the loss of 4,000 jobs throughout Europe.
Akin to a 15% cutback in its workforce, the job losses will principally impact administrative or product development roles. Pointing to the turbulent shift towards electric vehicles, the automotive giant admitted that its enterprise has suffered major upheaval, with increased market competition leading to "significant losses" of late.
