The Met Office has warned of a stark change in weather conditions
in Nottinghamshire with temperatures expected to plummet by 11C. Forecasters said overnight frosts are also possible on Thursday, October 10, and Friday, October 11.
Wednesday is expected to be cloudy with outbreaks of light rain. The Met Office says that a strong breeze is also expected but that should ease overnight. Temperatures are not expected to drop below 7C overnight on Wednesday, October 9, into Thursday, October 10. Forecasters say Thursday is expected to be "mainly dry and bright" but feel "colder", they warned.The Met Office outlook for Friday until Sunday reads: "Probably dry on Friday with good sunny spells. Somewhat cloudier with a chance of showers Saturday. Dry, brighter again by Sunday. Mainly light winds. Rather cold with overnight frosts possible.
The frost forecast comes as National Highways says it will have gritters out on roads across the East Midlands between Tuesday, October 8, until Thursday, October 10. Posting on X, formerly of Twitter, National Highways: East Midlands said: "It’s snow joke – our gritters will be out this week as part of our winter planning. You’ll see our salt of the earth crews doing dry runs on Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 Oct although we may need further testing on other dates."
