The Met Office explains that temperatures will drop overnight, with frost expected. However, a return to warm weather may be round the corner.
After warm weather throughout the start of September, many are wondering if a return to an 'Indian Summer' is expected.
Met Office meteorologist Clare Nasir said: "Through Wednesday, many areas seeing some sunshine after a chilly start. However, an are of low pressure will bring wet and windy conditions to Scotland and Northern Ireland through the day. "Temperatures falling away very quickly, it is going to be a cold night with some pockets of grass and air frost, particularly across central parts of Scotland.
Looking ahead to the beginning of October, Ian Simpson, forecaster for independent team Netweather, wrote on its blog: "It looks probable that we will see one or two relatively settled interludes early on in the period with ridges of high pressure moving in, most likely from the south.
