Temperatures could remain high for at least two weeks
The Met Office says the UK is set to enjoy above average temperatures later this month with a predicted high of 25C. Rain and wind is due to dominate Monday but the weekend could then see the mercury climb again.
From then, BBC charts show that the temperatures could remain high for at least two weeks, with next weekend currently set to reach 23C on both days. Average October daytime temperatures in the UK usually sit around 13C, the Mirror reports. The long-term weather forecast from the Met Office, which covers October 4 to October 13 - also predicts: "Temperatures likely to be above average overall, perhaps very warm at times in the south, though some cool nights and chance of early fog.
It comes after the first named storm of the season, Storm Agnes, recently caused winds as high as 79mph in parts of the country. The event triggered a series of Met Office yellow weather warnings for wind and rain across the UK, with forecasts of damaging winds and stormy seas.
