Foreign Office issues Spain holiday warning as rule could see tourists kicked out of hotels

Brits could be fined or evicted from Spanish hotels if they break one rule

that they could be asked to leave their hotel if found to be behaving irresponsibly around balconies. UK tourists are therefore being urged not to take unnecessary risks when on balconies, especially if under the influence of drink or drugs, when visiting the country.

Advice issued online by the Foreign Office reads: "In some regions you may be fined or evicted from your hotel if you are found to be behaving irresponsibly around balconies. Your travel insurance may not cover you for incidents that take place on a balcony or if you were under the influence of drink or drugs when the incident happened.

"It adds: "If you are staying in a room with a balcony, follow the safety advice at the hotel or apartment, and watch out for friends who may be at risk. "The warning from the Foreign Office also follows a number of serious incidents involving British nationals falling from height, including from balconies, while abroad. The Foreign Office also outlines advice to help British nationals stay safe while visiting Spain.

This includes guidance on protecting you belongings, carrying personal ID and information on what to do if you lose your passport while abroad.
