A house cordoned off by police in Bolton is linked to the investigation
A house in Bolton was cordoned off by police today after a body was found there in the search for a missing woman.
A murder investigation was continuing on Christmas Eve, with a man arrested on suspicion of murder remaining in police custody, Greater Manchester Police said. Mariann, who is said to have spoken little English, was last seen on Chorley Old Road in Bolton on December 14, at around 9.30am. Formal identification is set to take place later today, Tuesday.
Chief Superintendent Helen Critchley said: "This is a tragic development to our extensive search for Mariann, which we desperately hoped would not be the case so close to Christmas. Our thoughts are with her family at this distressing time.
