Newlyweds Dua Lipa and Callum Turner are in full nesting mode.
For a wedding involving one of the world’s biggest pop stars, the scene was relatively low-key this weekend. Yes, she wore custom Schiaparelli, but when, there was no flotilla of blacked-out SUVs, no Elton John serenade at the bottom of the steps.
Instead, a handful of relatives tossed petals as the couple slipped into a black cab. Were it not for the attendant paparazzi stationed outside, you could almost have mistaken it for an ordinary registry. Of course, the “showbiz wedding of the year” may still lie ahead.
All rumours point towards the couple planning a second blow-out in Palermo – for which they have reportedly dispensed non-disclosure agreements to locals with plans to take over the 18th Century Palazzo Gangi and shut down central squares Piazza Santa Anna and Piazza Croce dei Vespri – with a guest list said to include everyone fromand Mark Ronson. For now, though, the Lipa-Turners seem to be in the throes of that most relatable newlywed ritual: retreating from the world altogether.
Case in point: their first public sighting since becoming husband and wife, with Callum strapped into a dog waste carrier, and Dua dressed in nothing more elaborate than a trench coat, white jeans and Ugg boots, while walking their Labrador-Rottweiler mix, Golo, through Hampstead Heath.
“This is probably what being married to your best friend looks like,”one fan beneath the images. “Damnit, I want to be as chill as they seem after getting married,” said another. Let’s see if their honeymoon style remains as understated as they inevitably do more to promote European travel than every tourist board on the Schengen combined.
