Transferred back to Notre Dame after 2024 season

Buchner was a member of the Notre Dame lacrosse team that beat Maryland 15-5 for its second straight NCAA title on Monday in Philadelphia. He came off the bench for the Fighting Irish in the championship game and was credited with one caused turnover. Listed as a junior midfielder, Buchner appeared in 10 games this season for the Fighting Irish, who finished with a 15-1 record. He totaled an assist, a point, three shots and three ground balls — which is awarded when a team gains possession of the ball during live-ball play.
A highly regarded two-sport athlete coming out of high school in California in 2021, Buchner played two seasons of football at Notre Dame — seeing action in a total of 13 games — before transferring to Alabama prior to the 2023 season. He played in two games for the Crimson Tide — starting the South Florida game — and completed 8 of 19 passes for 61 yards.at the end of the 2023 regular season, but remained with the Alabama team up through its season-ending Rose Bowl loss to Michigan on Jan. 1.
