Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch said Nigel Railton was the right person to organise the pay outs to subpostmasters and manage the Post Office.
The former boss of Camelot, which used to operate the National Lottery, has been named as the new interim chairman of the scandal-hit Post Office.
The government said Mr Railton will take up the role at the state-owned Post Office “as soon as possible”, following pre-appointment checks.Post Office sought to make Horizon bugs sound ‘non-emotive’, inquiry told It comes as the Post Office is subject to an ongoing public inquiry into the affair, which saw hundreds of innocent subpostmasters wrongly convicted as a result of faulty Horizon software.which saw both sides accuse the other of mishandling the Horizon scandal.
