Former council building set to be converted into town centre flats
The transformation of a former Burnley office building into 24 town centre flats has been given the go-ahead.
London-based Jacob Fekete has been granted planning approval to convert Chaddesley House in Manchester Road, Burnley. The building – formerly offices for Lancashire County Council – has been unused since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Burnley Borough Council planners have approved the conversion. The building, directly opposite Burnley Town Hall, is now set to become 15 one bedroom flats and nine single-occupancy studio apartments. They are aimed at individuals, couples and young families so they can take advantage of the shops and services within Burnley’s town centre.
“A prompt decision would also speed up the commencement of work to deter potential vandalism to the building if it remains empty for too long. Overall, the proposal would create a good standard of much-needed housing in Burnley town centre.”
