Brisbane mayoral candidate Jonathan Sriranganathan says organising the workshop is necessary due to a lack of public housing and protection for tenants against rent gouging.

"This is a problem of the government failing to provide enough public housing and failing to introduce sufficient protections against rent gouging and landlords exploiting tenants." "We are sympathetic to [tenants who are evicted], but the solution is not to break the law and simply to refuse to leave the property."But Mr Sriranganathan, who has been advertising his October 1 workshop on social media, rejected any suggestion he was training people to break the law.
But Dr Morrison said if a tenant refused to comply with a police officer's order to leave a house, that would constitute resisting arrest.
