Kru Lundy wants to live his dream and teach kids about the dangers of knife crime along the way
Kru Lundy learned a lot working on the doors of nightclubs across Merseyside, Warrington, Widnes and Wigan.
After years of honing his craft part-time, while running his successful Widnes Thai Boxing School with wife Kirsty, Kru has shuttered his business and plans to look for acting work stateside. Kru had already been widely recognised for his success in martial arts, including being accepted into the Martial Arts Illustrated Magazine UK Hall of Fame, and in anti-bullying and mental health advocacy.
"And weeks before that I was watching Man of Tai Chi with Keanu Reeves, and in it he fights a guy called Silvio Simac, a stuntman, I remember thinking 'oh I would love to fight him in a fight scene'. Two weeks later I was in a cage in London filming James Nesbitt for Lucky Man and there was Silvio Simac in front of me. Did a fight scene, and the rush I got from it I couldn't sleep for two days. I was on an absolute high. That's where I found my goal in life.
For Kru, his films are about presenting young people in Merseyside and beyond with the realities of the devastation that carrying a knife can cause. He says he was deeply affected by the murders of Adam Ellison, stabbed to death in Prescot in 2017 in a murder which remains unsolved, and 12-year-old Ava White, killed by a 14-year-old boy in Liverpool city centre in 2021.
