Former Grange Hill actor John Alford ’s trial for alleged sexual offences against underage girls was delayed this morning after it emerged he was taken to hospital last night.

She stated she had been advised by family members that he had suffered ‘some sort of physical collapse’ and was taken to hospital at around 6.30pm.Judge Bilal Siddique granted a short adjournment to the allow the defence to continue looking into the circumstances, with the possibility of the trial starting in his absence if necessary.

The charges followed an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary’s specialist Sexual Offences Investigation Team into a report of offences allegedly committed in April 2022. However, he struggled with fame at a young age after leaving the school drama at 17, reportedly spending thousands of pounds on alcohol and gambling.
