Former Institute of Public Affairs executive director John Roskam is seeking Liberal preselection for the Victorian state seat of Warrandyte, with Sky News host Peta Credlin describing the announcement as “the best news I’ve had… all year.”
Preselections for the Liberal-held seat close tomorrow, with a by-election set to be scheduled once current MP Ryan Smith leaves parliament in July.
“It's an important by-election for Melburnians and for Victorians, and I want to be part of the change to make Victoria a better state.” During his tenure, Mr Roskam grew the IPA from an organisation with just seven employees and a budget of under $1 million to a major force on the centre right of Australian politics, that as of 2022 had a budget of over $8 million and around 30 staff.
