It’s no secret that Liverpool are eyeing up a midfield overhaul in the summer and players like Elliott have had to fill in this year.
While he has done a job as part of a midfield three, Downing thinks that he would be better suited to a position further up the pitch.BBC Football Daily podcast“I looked at Liverpool’s midfield . As Mohamed Salah occupies the position on the right-hand side for Liverpool, Elliott has had to make do with a role in the midfield.
Klopp’s side currently sit sixth in the Premier League and are six points behind Tottenham, although they do have a game in hand.
