Leicester have confirmed that Kelechi Iheanacho will leave the Foxes upon the expiry of his contract this month, having joined from Manchester City in 2017

Former Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has been released by Leicester - three years since Pep Guardiola branded him as "incredible".

Throughout the 2023/24 campaign, however, Iheanacho struggled for regular game time, netting just six goals in 26 matches as the Foxes secured the Championship title. The Nigerian came on for the final 12 minutes on the final day of the season against Blackburn - an appearance that proved to be his last in a Leicester shirt.ALSO READ: Man City make multi-ownership stance clear despite UEFA threat

Iheanacho clocked 232 appearances and scored 61 times during his time at Leicester. His most fruitful campaign came during the 2020/21 season when he struck 19 goals in 39 matches, with 12 of those coming in the top-flight. He also won the Premier League Player of the Month for March after netting five in three games.

"The quality was there, he was a young player here and I believe in that moment with Gabriel and Sergio we didn't have much space. He is a fantastic person, we had a good relationship, and I'm delighted it's going well lately.
