Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan has been arrested in the capital Islamabad, officials from his party have said 🔴 Fawad Chaudhry, a senior official with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party said the arrest was “an abduction”
Mr Chaudhry said Mr Khan was dragged out of the court and into a police vehicle, saying the arrest was “an abduction”.
A witness told Reuters that the court gate was blocked by armoured vehicles while Mr Khan was whisked away under heavy security. Mr Khan was ousted from power in a no-confidence vote in April last year, which he has denounced as illegal and a Western conspiracy. He has since campaigned against the government of his successor, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, demanding early elections.
