A £1 million facelift for Kirktonholme Pitches is close to completion and the new surface is set to get its first run out with a friendly featuring former Rangers and Celtic stars.
The latest development is the second part of a three-phase upgrade to the facility behind East Kilbride train station. Phase One consisted of a modern Sports Bar Social Club/Cafe in the pavilion with improved disability facilities. It also included solar panels over the full roof area to reduce the club’s carbon footprint.
Phase Three is ongoing as plans are in place to add two modern dressing rooms to accommodate the additional use, as the new pitch will allow for much greater use by community groups. Claremont Colts Disability Inclusive Football Club will join EKYM and EKYC in using the new pitch for training and games.
