Darren Jones decided he could earn 'easy money' by dealing in cocaine.
A former assistant restaurant manager who had been "brought up in a nice family and in a nice area" decided he could deal cocaine and earn "easy money" after suffering cash problems.
At court, Jones of Green Lane, Tickton, near Beverley, admitted possessing cocaine with intent to supply on September 29. The prosecutor, Eleanor Durdy, said that plainclothes cops in Norwood, Beverley, spotted Jones riding a bicycle while using a mobile phone and watched as he made a hand-to-hand exchange with a drugs user in Waltham Court.
Jones made no comment during the police interview. He already had convictions for two drink-related offences. "He was buying cannabis from others and an opportunity was given to him to sell cocaine. The consequences now are severe. He has made a poor and terrible decision and must now pay for the consequences.
