A former rugby player is facing jail time after a high-speed police chase involving drug throwing and a crash that injured a passenger. Maredudd Francis, 31, led police on a pursuit on the M56 motorway, reaching speeds of 139mph before smashing into another vehicle. Police found drugs and cash following the chase and a search of Francis' flat.

Francis failed to stop and packages were thrown out of his passenger window, WalesOnline reports. Mold Crown Court heard how he reached speeds of 139mph during the pursuit. In court, the prosecutor said his eyes were bloodshot and glazed and there was a strong smell of cannabis. The officer believed he was under the influence of drugs.
Francis admitted possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis and dangerous driving. He was jailed at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday .
