Neil Beckett gave girl fireman's lift in school office, trial told
A former Lagan College pupil who claimed she was sexually assaulted by the school’s health and welfare officer told a court on Wednesday the alleged inappropriate behaviour “creeped” her out.
Giving evidence via a videolink, the now-former pupil described Beckett as the school’s “medic and welfare officer” and said that prior to the alleged incidents she thought he was “great to talk to, he felt more like a friend than a teacher”. “He picked me up and put me over his shoulder and had his arms just under my butt and my skirt was riding up and I sort of tugged on it a little so that I wasn’t showing anything then I said ‘ok, my skirt is coming up now so put me down’ and then he did.”
When questioned further about the where Beckett’s hands were during the fireman’s life, the complainant said “they were just underneath my butt, so as close as you could possibly get without making it obvious that they were there”.
