Cody Thompson was a preseason regular for the Seahawks who played sparingly in the regular season.
When it’s the quiet part of the offseason, literally any Seattle Seahawks-related transaction is news. Former Seahawks wide receiver Cody Thompson, one of several practice squad players not given a reserve/future contract at the end of last season, has agreed to a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Thompson has been with the Seahawks in some capacity for all but a handful of months in his six-year NFL career.
He was released only a few days later and joined the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad before he found himself back on the Seahawks during the 2020 NFL playoffs. Over the past four seasons, Thompson has alternated between the practice squad and the active roster, with one year spent on injured reserve back in 2022. In total, Thompson appeared in 12 games for the Seahawks, with 140 of his 167 snaps coming on special teams.
