“What happens is you go back to basics, run everything through. Things are taking longer, which is natural because you’re protecting yourself. The biggest thing I would take from this ‘controversial’ incident, is that it is yet another decision that proves why VAR is such a GOOD thing. When instead it was a situation where cheats prospered, encouraged to dive and other forms of cheating, where the rewards could be massive and any punishment minimal. Also, every match saw countless wrong decisions, many of them key ones. There is now a tiny number of these kinds of key wrong decisions BUT each one of them is blown up massively. Whilst the fact that almost all diving / cheating has stopped because it is pointless hardly gets a mention.
