Steve Bannon, a White House adviser during the Trump administration, is required to turn himself in on Monday after a federal judge denied a request from Bannon to stay out of prison while he appealed his case.
Bannon was convicted of defying a congressional subpoena requesting documents related to a House investigation into riots at the U.S. Capitol. The committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the Capitol was largely rebuked by House Republicans. In a document released on Friday in the case of Bannon, Stephen K. v. United States, a justice wrote in a one-page order,"The application for release pending appeal presented to The Chief Justice and by him referred to the Court is denied."In a similar scenario, Peter Navarro, a former White House official under the Trump administration, reported to federal prison in March after being sentenced to four months for contempt of Congress.
