CHICAGO — Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham will speak at the Democratic National Convention this week, one of several Republican voices meant to highlight the “extremism” of Donald Trump. “I never thought I’d be speaking at a Democratic convention. But, after seeing firsthand who Donald Trump really is, and the threat he poses to our country, I feel very strongly about speaking out,” Grisham said in an exclusive statement to NBC News.
“While Donald Trump continues to attack moderates and independents, the Harris-Walz campaign has made clear that there is a place in our coalition for voters who reject the extremism of Donald Trump and want to protect our democracy,” a Harris campaign official said. When she speaks at the convention, Grisham is expected to urge her fellow Republicans to “step up and join me” in supporting Harris “to ensure Donald Trump never returns to the White House,” the official said.
