A misconduct hearing found that former PC Ahmad Shoaib would have been dismissed if he hadn't resigned. He was accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old boy in April 2023. While criminal charges were not pursued due to insufficient evidence, he was found to have breached the standard of discreditable conduct and is now banned from working in UK policing.
A police officer in the United Kingdom who allegedly had sex with a minor would have been dismissed from his position if he hadn't resigned, according to the findings of a misconduct hearing. The former police constable, Ahmad Shoaib, aged 38, is accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old boy while off-duty in his car in a public place on April 29, 2023.
Shoaib was brought to the attention of West Mercia Police regarding the incident when he was arrested by West Midlands Police on May 2, 2023. Following his arrest, West Mercia Police conducted a thorough investigation. However, they concluded that there was insufficient evidence to press criminal charges against Shoaib, and he was released without further action. The accelerated misconduct hearing determined that Shoaib violated the standard of discreditable conduct as outlined in the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2020. During the hearing, it was revealed that Shoaib was in the early stages of his police training when the alleged incident occurred. As a consequence of the hearing's findings, Shoaib will be added to the College of Policing's Barred List, effectively prohibiting him from working for any police service in the United Kingdom in the future. Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Jones of West Mercia Police commented on the case, stating, 'PC Shoaib was in the very early stages of his police training. I'm glad that this allegation came to light so quickly so that we were able to take action before he had the chance to work with the public. 'Cases like this undermine the trust the public have in us, which in turn undermines the hard work and dedication our officers show day-in and day-out. 'Officers like Shoaib have no place in our force and our commitment to removing them will continue.'
