MOGADORE , Ohio - Deputies said Friday they have arrested a former village of Mogadore mayor’s court clerk for stealing.According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, village officials asked for their help back in January.
Village officials had reported the suspected theft, which deputies said led to detectives investigating and ultimately charging Shutler.19 News reached out to Mogadore village officials who provided the following comment: “On April 11, 2024, the Village of Mogadore learned that its former employee, Michelle Shutler, was indicted by a Grand Jury in Portage County for the felony offenses of theft in office and tampering with records.
Ms. Shutler was employed by the Village as a police administrative assistant and clerk. The Village discovered potential misconduct by this former employee in November 2023. At that time, Ms. Shutler was placed on unpaid administrative leave and law enforcement was immediately notified of the allegations.
Ms. Shutler is no longer employed by the Village and was terminated by the Village upon its receipt of the results from the Summit County Internal Audit Department. The Village has cooperated with law enforcement throughout the course of the above process, and will continue to do so. While the Village felt it necessary to provide the factual details and background set forth above, it does not intend to provide any further comment on this matter given the ongoing criminal case.”St.
