Former WA opposition leader Mia Davies is set to confirm her bid for a spot in Canberra, 18-months after announcing she was quitting state politics.
Ms Davies will announce on Friday that she will seek pre-selection to contest the new WA seat of Bullwinkel at the next federal election , the ABC understands.
But Federal Nationals Leader David Littleproud has finally succeeded in his months-long bid to convince Ms Davies to join the federal team in Canberra. In 2013 she became the first woman to become deputy leader of the Nationals WA and then went on to become the first female leader in the National Party in 2017.
In 2021she was appointed opposition leader – the first WA National to hold the title since 1947, and only the third female opposition leader.
