Headteacher Mr Urwin started a bereavement register of pupils affected by loss during the pandemic 😔
Mr Urwin said 160 vulnerable students are contacted every week, and the remaining pupils receive a phone call every two to three weeks.‘We have had 40 students who have lost people which is really, really high. That’s come from the vulnerable calls we make every week.
‘There’s an area on the website where people can go to if they feel they are struggling. Some students we have invited into school because we feel they need that structure and support.’ ‘We do have to make it really clear that, with TS3 being a vulnerable area, this is why we’ve got this in place. Mr Urwin added: ‘The free school meals programme is running but with lots of people being furloughed and people losing their jobs we wanted to do our bit and it’s gone absolutely brilliantly.
