Osama Saeed and Asgar Taj are both on trial for causing death by dangerous driving
A woman thought she had got in the way of ‘filming for Top Gear’ shortly before a collision which killed a biker, a trial has heard.
Opening the case for the prosecution, Stephen McNally said that on Tuesday, September 15 2020, at around 10pm, the four men were seen at a set of traffic lights on dashcam footage. In the footage, taken from the delivery tanker, it appeared to show the four vehicles at the traffic light, each braking lightly before the lights turned to amber. As the truck drove on, a minute later the video showed the Audi RS3 had collided with the chevrons and had driven onto the roundabout, and the Audi R8 was on the other side of the roundabout, the court heard.
Another driver said she saw an ‘explosion of lights and sparks’ and saw a grey Audi that didn’t appear to turn and was going straight. She said the Audi ‘collided with the motorcycle and the Audi ‘flew’ onto the roundabout. A collision investigation officer concluded that the Audi R8, being driven by Chaudhry, was the first to reach the roundabout, and collided with the roundabout and the railings on the other side. He said that the Audi RS3, driven by Mr Saeed, collided with the blue and white motorcycle, driven by Mr Taj, with the motorcycle coming to a stop in front of the car.
