At least four passengers sustained minor injuries after a defective train of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 activated its "automatic brake" feature.
At 9:08 a.m. on Wednesday, the safety feature of the train, called the automatic train protection system, activated to stop a defective index approaching Boni Station, the MRT-3 said. The MRT-3 added that the four injured passengers received first aid treatment from emergency medical technicians . Security personnel were also instructed to provide all assistance to the passengers.
The defective train resumed movement by 9:16 a.m. upon intervention by on-board technicians and was removed for further troubleshooting by a maintenance provider, according to the MRT-3. Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette B. Aquino apologized for the inconvenience caused by the incident.
