Tragedy struck off the Kent coast as a pod of nine pilot whales became stranded on mudflats. Despite rescue efforts, four whales have died, while the remaining five are yet to be located.
Four whales have tragically died after becoming becoming trapped on mudflats off the Kent coast, authorities have confirmed.
It is unclear exactly where the whales were found, but the divers had planned to use specialist equipment to cross the mudflats and reach them today in an attempt to refloat them at high tide. 'You could see they were getting distressed. We posted what was happening online as best as we could and got in contact with the correct people.'
