The jury selected to hear the case had been kept waiting in a delay that was unexplained until Judge Eric Davis revealed the case had been settled at the last second.
Dominion attorney Justin Nelson, who revealed the settlement figure, said it represented "justice and vindication".Fox News later released a statement saying they were glad to have reached a settlement. Fox News stars such as Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity, as well as company founder Rupert Murdoch, were expected to testify during the six-week trial.
Many of Fox's hosts and executives didn't believe the claims but allowed them to be aired nevertheless.
