A jury had already been sworn in and opening arguments were set to be held as the settlement was confirmed on Tuesday, avoiding further embarrassment for the Murdoch-owned Fox News
, which was facing the airing of internal documents and communications as well as testimony by many of its stars.
A Fox News spokesperson said: “We are pleased to have reached a settlement of our dispute with Dominion Voting Systems. We acknowledge the Court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false. This settlement reflects Fox’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards. A sprawling list of exhibits was submitted to the court on Tuesday prior to the delays – with Dominion attempting to enter into the court record 7,021 exhibits including videos and transcripts from Fox.featuring elections and an HBO documentary on cyber-warfare.
Tucker Carlson, Fox News’ biggest star, even expressed scorn for Mr Trump, whose supporters formed the core of the network’s viewers. Text exchanges revealed as part of the lawsuit show Mr Carlson declaring “I hate him passionately” and saying that “we are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights”.
