The competitive action gets underway for the Steelmen on Saturday in the League Cup
Motherwell No.2 Stephen Frail says the club are striving for consistency and want to progress in the Premier Sports Cup, as they aim to avoid the nightmare run that derailed them last season.
Frail wants some of those early-season performances, but without the horrendous dip, as they chase a top-six finish. In between those Fir Park wins over Hibs and Killie came a 1-0 League Cup first round defeat to St Mirren, and Frail wants more. “We look back at the Hearts result, away from home on a hot summer’s day, and we felt the performance and result was excellent. But we then hit that period of four games where we played so well against St Mirren, Rangers, Celtic and Livingston, but didn’t take anything from it, and it kind of dipped.
