Fabrizio Romano reported the news on X.Mbappé suffered the injury in the waning minutes of France's 1-0 defeat over Austria in their opening match of the 2024 Euros. Mbappé went down in the 85th minute after going for a header and hitting his face into the shoulder of Austrian defender Kevin Danso.
France got off to a good start with a win over Austria, but things will only get harder with matchups against the Netherlands and Poland coming up. The Netherlands took down Poland 2-1 on Sunday, thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo and Wout Weghorst. They're among the favorites to win the tournament, too.Mbappé will get surgery in Düsseldorf and hope to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.
