McDougall was one of the best strikers in Scotland in the mid 80s and is remembered as an Aberdeen legend despite spending just two years at Pittodrie.
McDougall is fondly remembered for a three-year stint at Pittodrie in the mid 80s where he scored an incredible 44 goals in 69 appearances before his early retirement due to a knee injury in 1986. Renowned for his finishing ability, he was one of the best strikers in the country for a spell, starring for St Mirren before his move to Aberdeen where he scored 64 goals in 169 games. He kicked off his professional career at Clydebank with 25 goals in a 38 game campaign.
He was honoured at Pittodrie alongside Alex McLeish last year when he attended their 1-0 win over Livingston and is fondly remembered as a club legend having made a huge impact in his relatively short stint at the club. The news has emerged on social media that he passed away in hospital on Sunday morning due to Heart complications.
