Cammy Devlin got the injury time goal that booked a playoff clash with Greek side PAOK.
Frankie McAvoy hailed the character of his Hearts side after admitting to a rollercoaster of emotions in their last gasp win over Rosenborg.
“But character sums up the team. We came back, 3-1 down on aggregate, to win 4-3 on the night and the players deserve immense credit. The support drove us on, it was a special occasion. Tynecastle under the lights is difficult and daunting for anyone. They're a good team, you saw that tonight. McAvoy had a special mention for two goal hero Devlin and insisted his good fortune at the deflected second strike was hard earned and there was also praise for teenager Aidan Denholm on his first European start. He said: “I need to see the goal back, it did look as though it hit their boy. The good thing is he’s getting forward and into the box, which is one of the things we have asked him to do.
"They are a good team, they are expansive and came here to play. They've got some excellent midfielders and good wide midfielders but he was fantastic for us tonight.
