A council leader said he was 'disappointed and saddened' by the vandalism
A memorial for the victims of the Holocaust at a park in Nottinghamshire has been vandalised. The message "free Palestine" was scratched on the central sculpture at the memorial garden in Gedling Country Park.
The markings were reported to Gedling Borough Council earlier today and have since been removed. Council leader John Clarke said he was "deeply disappointed and saddened" by the vandalism. "This park holds a special place in my heart and hearts of our community, the damage not only undermines the hard work and dedication of those who maintain the park, but it also affects the enjoyment of our residents," he said. "We are taking necessary measures to restore and protect the holocaust memorial to ensure it remains a valuable and important part of the park.
