Free sim cards with data have been made available at a number of libraries for low-income households in Renfrewshire.
Residents over the age of 18 who have either no or poor access to the internet at home or when out and about and struggle to afford their existing monthly contract or top-up can qualify for the initiative, which started earlier this year.
“We’re delighted that our partnership with the Good Things Foundation is helping those who may be digitally excluded to stay connected, removing barriers that stop participation in normal life. In 2020, the Scottish Government distributed iPads and Chromebooks among digitally excluded low-income families and care leavers as part of its ConnectingMr McTernan said: “Throughout the pandemic, there was the whole drive by the Scottish Government through SCVO and there was a distribution of devices.
