"I went through hell," said Yocheved Lifshitz. "I went through hell," said Lifshitz. "We never thought and never knew that we could reach a situation like this." The people assigned to guard her “told us they are people who believe in the Quran and wouldn’t hurt us.” Lifshitz and her husband were peace activists who regularly drove Palestinian patients from Gaza to receive medical treatment in Israeli hospitals. But in captivity, the hostages told their captors, “We don’t want to talk about politics," she said.
