Villagers in Keyworth say issues around speeding in the area are ‘frightening’ after Rushcliffe police carried out speed checks in the village. Officers recently conducted a speed check operation in Keyworth, resulting in more than 20 vehicles being stopped for offences such as speeding and using a mobile phone whilst driving.

The 57-year-old said: “It does sound like a lot, I am aware of it and it’s frightening. I’ve seen things on Spotted Keyworth asking if speed bumps can be put in which I think it would be great. It’s Nottingham Road, and I’ve seen the police outside the school before, out with a speeding gun. Nottingham Road going through Plumtree is quite a fast road between Keyworth and Plumtree. He added: “I feel it’s safe overall.

The statistician said: “To be honest, I didn’t think speeding was a problem. Since the population is growing I noticed that down and around Nottingham Road, where the school is, it’s really buttoned up. Rather than there being speeding issues, it’s more congestion. It’s easy going down Selby Lane. But in all honesty I haven’t noticed any issues with speed.
