Born and bred near Singleton, this dancing dynamo has just been appointed replacement lead dancer at Paris’ most famous cabaret venue.
The first night on stage must have been fabulous?: That night I will never forget. It was a pinch yourself moment, a highlight of my life moment, highlight of my career moment, and even now that I’m sometimes the lead dancer, nothing will ever surpass that first night.: Everything around me went silent. I was so nervous but so excited, and I had to convince myself that “You’ve made it, you’re here, you’ve got this.” That’s something that I always say to myself when I’m nervous.
But after work-out the day is your own until the evening, when you do the first of your two shows at 9pm, then we finish at about two in the morning. By the time you wind down you’re not going to bed until 4am so an early wake-up would be 10am. And we are performing six days a week. About twice a month we will have rehearsals where the dance captain will tweak certain things, and sometimes between shows she will have seen something she wants fixed, so we have to do that too.
