Former boxer Anthony Ogogo, who faced career-ending injuries and a painful divorce, has undergone a remarkable transformation. He credits his participation in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins for helping him rebuild his life and find happiness as a new father.
Former professional boxer and Strictly Come Dancing celebrity Anthony Ogogo has come through a turbulent period in his life. His woes started with a devastating career-halting injury that drove him to the brink of despair, compounded when his long-term love Casey Wicks, who had been by his side since their teenage years, asked for divorce. This series of personal blows left Anthony confessing he was a "broken man".
He emerged from the experience, he says, both physically drained yet emotionally enriched, learning unexpected things about himself. He expresses fondness for the man he sees today, a stark contrast to his former self. The challenges on the show, which included traversing parallel bars 335 feet above a canyon river, helped the London 2012 bronze medallist mentally. He has credited his daughter Casey with saving his life after he was forced into retirement in 2019 and struggled with suicidal thoughts.
"It was really difficult," he recalls of the divorce. " dad passed away during it as well. He'd been like a father to me. I still love the girl, I always will. She is very much my hero."
