The ECHO takes a look at Eddie Ratcliffe's journey through a murder trial after his sentence appeal got rejected
Eddie Ratcliffe's day in court, where he gave his account to the jury, was far from ordinary. Rather than taking the stand in the witness box, he was situated in a side room off courtroom two at Manchester Crown Court - where he was on trial for the murder of Brianna Ghey . Brianna, from Warrington , was just 16 when she was lured to Culcheth Linear Park by Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe.
A school newsletter from that period highlighted his participation in the 2018 World Kickboxing Championships in Jamaica, where he took up the sport driven by a 'desire to do a combat sport'. He secured second place in his category out of 50 competitors, narrowly missing out on the top spot to the German champion. During his testimony, Ratcliffe revealed that his family had accompanied him to the Caribbean for the competition.
