Nelson Thomas , ex-MTV star, chose amputation after a car crash crushed his foot; despite challenges, he's inspired by the amputee community and determined to recover. "I think walking across the street and realizing that I was going to walk through these doors and walk out without no foot was the most scariest moment of my life," Thomas said, reflecting on the day of his amputation.
"It's crazy, man," Thomas said, describing the experience of seeing his leg for the first time after surgery. "I couldn't believe it. I was shocked... the first thing you do is try to wiggle your toes or wiggle your foot and you realize wow I can't do that." However, Thomas is finding inspiration and support within the amputee community. "The amputee world is so beautiful, so beautiful, man," he said. "They opened their arms with me with all love and embraced me like I was one of their own, which I am now."
