Belfast Athletic are growing from strength to strength following stellar season
Since their formation in 2018, Belfast Athletic have won two doubles and escaped the clutches of relegation. It has been a rollercoaster of results and emotions for the club, which is currently based in North Belfast .
"I came up with the idea of Belfast Athletic to try and get as many players from across Belfast to join, rather than just associate the club with one particular area of the city. "We have one team at present. We did have a reserve team, but it was difficult running two teams. And the league the reserves were in, a few teams folded and they found it hard getting fixtures. And then some boys lost interest."We have a decent squad and we are hungry to succeed. We have a lot of boys who played Intermediate and Amateur League football, so we have plenty of experience.
"Our last game was the cup final on May 31. we are taking about six weeks off and then we will start just after the Twelfth. "We then went up and had a tough season. We lost our manager and a few players and we just needed to regroup. We managed to stay up and bring in new management and a few new signings, and we went on to win the Division One title and the Welshman Cup again.
