Late-season chills will cause frosting in several U.S. states on Tuesday, the National Weather Service says.
Frost weather warnings have been issued by the National Weather Service in 15 states across the country as temperatures dip to or near freezing point.The agency said that the mercury will drop below 36 degrees Fahrenheit, causing frost formation in parts of Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
Parts of northeast Kentucky, southwest Virginia, central, northern, southern and western West Virginia will see temperatures dropping as low as 33 degrees Fahrenheit, which will result in frost formation. In parts of east central, northeast, south central and southeast Kentucky, temperatures are forecast to bottom out in the 30 to 35 range on Tuesday morning.
