Clarke wasn't happy when he eventually addressed the press on Saturday night

Frustrated Steve Clarke admits he can't understand the SFA's decision-making over their landing spot in Portugal ahead of Sunday's clash - and has something to discuss with 'the powers that be' after this international break.

Clarke and his team were delayed by two hours in landing on Saturday night after a series of unfortunate events, including a baggage mishap at Glasgow airport, meant they didn't touch down until 9pm on the eve of the Nations League game. The situation wasn't aided by the team landing at a military airport around 100 miles from Lisbon, where the game is taking place, adding more hours to the trip which proved more gruelling than it had to be.

The Scotland boss' UEFA press conference was delayed but he was eventually asked if he could understand the process that led to that decision. He said: "I thought it was in Spain! To be honest, I can't. It's something we have to look at after this. But we're finally here now, so let's crack on. "I know the delays were outwith everyone's hands. It's something we have to look at after this. I think it's something for me to discuss with the powers that be after this trip. I've got to focus now on the game coming up. It's a quick turnaround, but we've got a good group of players. They'll turn up tomorrow, don't worry.

“The only thing is the lads will be having their dinner in the hotel now. I'm sitting here starving. They're at the hotel, they'll be eating. The only real downside, apart from the length of time it took us to get here, is the fact that they are sitting down for their dinner probably a couple of hours later than they would normally do.”
