The mastermind of a robbery in which a policewoman was shot dead will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being convicted of murder today.

The police chief who led the inquiry into the fatal armed robbery said today he was relieved to fulfil his promise to PC Sharon Beshenivsky's husband to bring all those involved to justice. He also had connections with Thug Fam and had the same distinctive five-star tattoo as Shah and other members.Jama, 20, who had previous convictions for violence and dishonesty, was caught a week after the murder when he and nine other Somalis were held for alleged involvement in a gang rape in Birmingham, for which he was later convicted.
The 25-year-old was on police bail on suspicion of firearms offences at the time of the raid and had previous convictions for dishonesty, deception and robbery. Raza Ul Haq Aslam was another lookout. The 26-year-old Londoner was jailed for eight years in 2007 after being convicted of robbery. He was cleared of murder, manslaughter and firearms offences relating to the Bradford raid.He has since been released from prison.The conviction of Piran Ditta Khan marks the end of an 18-year hunt for justice after the killing of PC Sharon Beshenivsky.
